Mark Robert Michael Wahlberg, popularly known as Mark Wahlberg or Marky Mark, was born on June 5, 1971, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the youngest of nine kids.

Alma Elaine, Mark’s mom, was a nurse’s aide and bank clerk, while his father, Donald Edmond Wahlberg Sr., was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Unfortunately, they divorced when Mark was just a child. Mark had a rough childhood, dropping out of school at 14, and served 45 days in prison due to he was sent to prison for racially motivated crimes at 16.

Mark’s music career began in 1990, he received $500000 in help from his brother Donnie, who was then a member of the successful boy band, New Kids on the Block.

He began recording as a member of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch and released their debut album, Music for the People. The band produced several hits, with Good Vibrations reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, while Wildside peaked at number 10.
Their debut album then went on to sell over 1 million copies in the United States! It also helped Mark land a gig as a model at Calvin Klein.
Not long after, Mark decided to shed his Marky Mark image and pursue an acting career.
His first movie role was in Renaissance Man in 1994, while The Basketball Diaries drew more attention to his acting capabilities. His breakout role came in 1997, with the film Boogie Nights.
