Marketing is essential in business. It helps bring awareness and exposure to brands, making it easier for them to get their names out there and increase sales.

However, it is a highly technical, confusing discipline. Most people have no idea how it works. It is typically too complicated for business owners to master themselves, meaning they must outsource it to third-party services or hire in-house marketing professionals.

This post will focus on the latter, telling you how to recruit top marketing and e-commerce talent for your company.

Work with a Recruitment Agency

The easiest and most effective way to recruit top marketing and e-commerce talent for your business is to contact an agency and ask them to manage your company’s recruitment efforts for you.

Whether it’s Perth labour hire or part-timers in Sydney, ensure that the agency you hire has a good reputation and positive client feedback on their website.

Feedback is essential because it gives you insight into what a company is like to work with. You can read it and decide whether a company is worth hiring.

Make sure that you also think about the cost. Some recruitment agencies charge obscene amounts of money for their services.

If you own a growing business, you must find an agency charging reasonable rates. Finally, ensure the agency you hire specializes in the niche you are hiring for, i.e., marketing or e-commerce.

Holding Recruitment Events

An excellent way to attract new talent is to hold recruitment events. Alternatively, you can attend an established recruitment event and set a table there.

Attending somebody else’s event is better than throwing your own because you won’t have to do any legwork or worry about getting people to come. You must create flyers and leaflets at recruitment events that advertise the benefits of working with your company.

You also need to ensure that working for you has real benefits, such as time off, health insurance, or the opportunity to earn bonuses.

If there aren’t any benefits to working for you, selling your company at a recruitment event will be difficult. You usually have to pay to attend recruitment events, so work out a budget and factor in the cost of setting up a table, printing flyers, and sending employees there to represent you.

Consider Company Culture

Your company’s working culture is going to have a significant influence on whether people want to work for it or not. You might think new hires can’t know your company’s culture without working for you, but this is untrue.

We live in a highly digitized age. All job candidates have to do is post on an internet forum dedicated to the specific geographic area in which your company is based, and they will likely find current employees. A toxic work environment will not make your business seem attractive to them.

Also worth noting is that employee loyalty rates are typically pretty low when companies have unfriendly cultures. Ensure that you put a lot of focus on cultivating a healthy, warm working culture. Give employees mental wellness breaks, and don’t work them into an early grave.

Posting On Job Boards

Job boards can be great places to post advertisements. Most recruitment agencies post on them for their clients. However, as long as you hold a premium account on your chosen board, you can post on them, too. Ensure you carefully craft job advertisements, focusing on the benefits of working for your company.

Again, you need to sell your company to people. You won’t be able to attract top talent if you don’t. Even the most basic job advertisement will attract somebody, but you must ensure all new hires are qualified and experienced and will be assets to your business.

Hiring anybody and everybody is just going to get you a workforce that’s demotivated or inexperienced. If you do not have the time to manage your business’s recruitment efforts, outsource to an agency. An agency will be able to do it a lot more efficiently than you will. Make sure that you market yourself well on job boards.

Employee Referrals

Employee referrals can be a good idea. Asking employees to refer friends who they think will be a good fit for your company can increase employee satisfaction and loyalty and net you some talented professionals.

Ensure that you offer incentives to employees, i.e., monetary gifts if they refer somebody who ultimately works for your business.

One of the best things about employee referrals is that you don’t have to worry about inexperienced, underqualified candidates. Employees aren’t going to refer people they are not confident about because this can negatively impact their reputation in your company.

Ensure you carefully vet each new hire if you are sourcing them yourself. You can use background-checking services to find out if they have ever had criminal convictions or gotten into trouble with the police.

Offering Training and Development

Offering training and development can be an excellent way to attract top talent because you give new hires opportunities to grow. Only the most motivated, driven individuals are attracted to growth.

Make sure that you don’t just hold in-house training. Try to send employees to third-party training centers and colleges. Sending employees to places like this can further their development and improve their interpersonal skills.

Offering additional courses (i.e., ones that are not mandatory) can be an excellent way to identify incredibly motivated workers.

Employees who take advantage of additional courses should be fast-tracked for promotion or at least recognized for their efforts. Some companies require employees to take courses before they can be considered eligible for promotions.

Attracting top talent for your business can be difficult if you have never had to manage your company’s recruitment efforts before. However, it’s worth learning how to.
